This variety of Clove originates from Egypt and is cultivated in the warm, humid pockets of Egypt. Cultivation focuses on harvesting the unopened flower buds (the “seeds” of the spice) just as they turn pink. They are then sun-dried until they turn dark brown, concentrating the eugenol oil that provides their intense heat and medicinal potency.
